About Cheymliss Yoga

Chey’s Story

Hi, I’m Chey (like Shea Butter)—a trauma-informed yoga teacher, creator of Cheymliss Yoga, and the mind behind Emo Yoga and other alternative yoga experiences. My journey began in 2017, after a back injury forced me to slow down and unexpectedly led me to yoga. What started as a way to “get a good stretch” quickly became a life-changing practice that helped me navigate anxiety, depression, and years of trauma. Yoga gave me strength, stillness, and—most importantly—a safe space to heal.

From the moment I stepped into teacher training, I knew I wanted to share this practice with people who, like me, never felt they “fit the mold.” I wanted to break stereotypes of what yoga looks like and who it’s for. That vision gave birth to Emo Yoga—blending live music and movement in concert venues to create an inclusive space for misfits, metalheads, nerds, emos, and anyone who ever thought yoga wasn’t for them. Since then, I’ve expanded into Heavy Metal Yoga, Deftones Chill, fandom-inspired flows, and virtual classes, always rooted in accessibility, community, and self-acceptance.

The Cheymliss Culture and Mission

My mission with Cheymliss Yoga is to show people that they are stronger, more capable, and more worthy of love than they realize. On the mat, we laugh, sweat, sometimes cry, and always connect back to ourselves. Off the mat, my goal is to empower you to carry that same compassion into your life. Whether we’re breathing together in a concert venue, on retreat, or virtually across the world—my message stays the same: you are enough, just as you are.
